Floyd Mayweather Sr. said that Manny Pacquiao will lose against the British icon Ricky Hatton on their fight scheduled May 2, 2009.
Mayweather was quoted saying “Ricky’s going to be physically, mentally and spiritually strong. Manny Pacquiao’s chances are slim and none. If he doesn’t run, we’ll get him in one.”
Hmmm…let’s just wait and see.

Love Mirror
I was watching Boy and Kris this morning and their guest, who is a feng shui expert, gave two pointers on how a single person can attract his/her partner.
1) In your room, you need to have a picture of you together with, let’s say your idol. In this way, you will be attracting the other sex’s energy.
2) Have a love mirror (according to stories, an emperor gave his daughter a mirror with his picture so that the kid will be able to see her father any time). You need to have this mirror catch the moon’s light for 15 consecutive days starting February 4, 2009.
Uses of the mirror:
1) Let’s say that you will be speaking in front of an audience. Just bring it out so that the negative energy will go away.
2) And for the meaty part. This mirror needs to capture your prospect’s image. So if you are in a party with the love of your life, do what ever it takes for you to see your love’s image using the mirror. And they say that after 3 weeks, you will be going out with this person!
Ate Lara, let’s go to Chinatown and buy 3 love mirrors! = )

Fear Factor
Even before ABS-CBN bought the right to do the local version of Fear Factor, I have always been a fan.
I remember that they even had the contestants eat an unfertilized duck egg, which is called “balot”. For us Filipinos, that would be a feast!the most number of balot that I ate in one seating was 7! And I know that all the physical challenges that they make the participants do, I can do it too!
But…
Of all the “stunts”, I know that I wouldn’t have the strength to face the most dangerous beast of all…the scariest creature that ever walked this earth… SPIDERS!
I am arachnophobic! Just like Ron Weasley, I am afraid of spiders.
So if the challenge includes spiders, I’ll faint, 100%!

President Barack Obama's Inauguration Speech
My fellow citizens: I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.
These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.
Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sanh.

I believe that he will be one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known.

Eraserheads’ Reunion Concert: The Repeat
Who would ever forget the much talked about concert of 2008 featuring our favorite Eraserheads? Though the concert was cut short (since Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital), nobody was dismayed to have gone home “early” that evening.
And so as not to disappoint their fans, Eraserheads are back! Eraserheads’ Reunion Concert is scheduled on March 7, 2009 at Mall of Asia! They promised that the event will be a memorable one. So guys, (especially Miles and Bey) we still have the chance to take part in this momentous event! We just need to find somebody who will “donate” 3 free tickets to us! Yahoo!
Anyone?

Hancock
I know it’s late to write anything about Hancock, the movie which starred Will Smith. When it was still showing in the theaters, I did have second thoughts of watching it since it’s about a drunkard superhero. So I ended up not watching it.
Last week, I bought the CD. It was only yesterday that I got to watch it. And I must say, the movie is really good! I almost cried.
The story is about superheroes that were built in pairs. All of them were drawn to each other’s opposite and once they find their match, they will lose their powers. This way, they will become immortal…and they will experience death.
Hancock has become drunkard, believing that he was the last one of his kind. Only to find out that his “pair” is still alive. Confrontation…fight scenes…
Aside from the special effects, I really love the morale of the story. It teaches us that people needs to make sacrifices in life. That life is never easy even for superheroes.
And one more thing, one character in the movie believes that there is goodness in anybody. This, I must admit, is something that I always forget. No matter how bad a person is, he/she deserves a second chance.

Charice Pempengco in Barack Obama’s Inauguration Ball
Last January 18 in Washington DC, Charice Pempengco was invited to sing in President Barack Obama’s inauguration ball. She sang God Bless America and The Greatest Love of All.
It must have felt good to have been invited in the ball much more perform in front of the President of the United States of America!
Charice was given a standing ovation after she sang God Bless America. She really makes every Filipino proud!

Malaysia, Here We Come!
Courtesy of a good friend Tanya, I and Verna will be flying to Malaysia! I can’t wait. We have been planning this for a month and finally, Tanya was able to book us a flight!
From Malaysia, we are also visiting Sentosa Island in Singapore! This, is what I call life!
Honestly, I’m a little afraid. Why? I do have the history of being lost in the airport. Even though I do have companions, it seems that airports to have their “charm” on me that keeps me “wondering” around.
But I do have a game plan this time: Focus and Read! I need to focus (meaning follow hahahah!) on one person going to the same destination so that I wouldn’t be lost. Read signs. Signs like, when I feel that I am the only one going in a direction, it might mean that I am going the wrong direction! (right Tanya?)
In short, I need not to be stupid. And I can (fingers crossed). = )

Sentosa Island
I first came to know Sentosa Island in a show called “Feel at Home” hosted by Charlene Gonzalez. I immediately fell in love with the place and from that time on, I said to myself that I will visit it no matter what.
I have friends who are working in Singapore and I know that most of them had been to that place. Even Tanya who works in Malaysia! When Pepay, also a good friend of mine attended a conference in Singapore, she was able to go to Sentosa. She said that it’s really beautiful aside from the low prices of tech stuff!
O well, I thank God that soon, I will experience the magic of Sentosa Island first hand! I can’t wait!

What’s in Your R2D2?
Have you seen bubble gang last Friday? They listed the things that are found in our fridge. I think that’s really funny! The list included catsup in sachets, water in a 1.5 liter of soda, left over food etc.
That gave me an idea to list the things that are found in one’s r2d2. Here’s the list:
1) Training manual
- manuals come in handy especially when you can’t find what you are
looking for in KB
2) Food
- who does not have something to nibble? R2D2
3) Mugs / cups
- when you eat, you drink.
4) Ballpen
- everybody needs to sign their attendance… and their red alerts too!
5) Tissue
- admit it, you have supplies in your R2D2. We need to hoard some since
there are times that tissues are nowhere to be found. What will you use
during your bio break? Right Lloyd? heheheh

To Work or Not to Work, That is the Question
To work or not to work… Hahaha!
There are a lot of things that are going on in my mind right now. Every time I quit job, I am always in this position wherein I do not know what I want. Of course, one needs to have a source of income so as to support his/her daily needs.
But I do not want to be a part of any organizations just because I needed to have a constant monthly salary. I do believe that it is unfair both to the company and me if I am not to enjoy the job. It’s just going to be a burden if I needed to drag myself to work everyday and unfair for the company if I will not be giving my 100%.
So, to work or not to work? For now, the answer will be just to take my time and analyze the thing/s that I like. I just need to find something that I love to do so that it won’t feel like working at all!

Things 2 Do While Unemployed
Since I am officially unemployed as of this writing (naks!), I would want to come up with the list of the things that I can do while job hunting (who knows, this list might give you an idea if ever that you will be in a “position” like mine).
Here’s my suggestion:
1) Watch telenovelas/tsinovelas : since I have been working in a graveyard shift for the last 3 years, I haven’t really watched any telenovelas! Admit it, sometimes they are entertaining and helps you forget your irate callers.
2) Read my newspaper – there are a lot of things that you will know in your daily tabloids. Example? Do you know that Rustom Padilla is now “dead”? Dead in a sense that he/she wants to forget his masculine part and would want to be known as BB Gandang Hari! Juicy news right? (wink wink)
3) Cross stitch - I know that this is not so popular anymore but it will help me produce something while being a bum!
4) Sleep! – wow! This is the best part of being unemployed! I am now able to sleep at night! Dr. Vicky Belo says sleeping at 11PM (all the way ‘till morning of course) is good for the body. Though I still go to bed at around 2 or 3am (since I am now an internet addict), I can still take a nap in the afternoon to regain my strength so that I can do “telebabad” at night.
5) Quality time with my family and friends, any day of the week! – if you are working at night, the only times that you can have “bonding time” with your family and friends are on your rest days. But if you are jobless, anytime is a good time!
6) Eat at a resto and have my mom pay for it! – hey, it’s payback time! When I was still working, I pay the bills. Now that I do not have a source of income, how can I?
Isn’t it nice to be joblezz? Come, join the wagon! = )

Mabby: the beauty queen of the group. I admire this girl since she will do everything for
her kids. Be good!
Kate: the international beauty (and the “white lady” of the group). I miss our chitchat

Manny Pacquiao and Sylvester Stallone's Movie
An article in a newspaper said that there is a possibility that Many Pacquiao may star in a movie together with Sylvester Stallone. They said that the 2 stars already met and they already discussed the project.
Though Sylvester Stallone is/was known for his portrayal as Rocky Balboa and our champ Manny Pacquiao is the current Number 1 pound for pound boxer of the world (naks!), their “movie” will not focus on the said sport. It will be something like Rush Hour.
Wow! If this project pushes through, Manny will not only become one of the famous athletes of our time but will also become a Hollywood star! Lucky one!
Hey, is Jacky Chan looking for another Jennifer Love Hewitt for the sequel of Tuxedo? I would love to audition! And my sport? Hmmm… will speed eating count? = )

McDonalds’ Commercial: Huling El Bimbo
Have you seen the new commercial of Mc Donalds? The “Huling El Bimbo” one? That was really nice!
Commercial like this is a sure winner. I still remember when they aired “Karen”. The story of a girl (Karen) who brought her “Lolo” (grandfather) to one of the store of this famous food chain and the Lolo kept mentioning the names of his other grandchildren. Hurt by the thought that her Lolo had already forgotten her, she was surprised when her Lolo kept a portion of his burger and said “Para sa paborito kong apo, si Karen.” (To my favorite grandchild, Karen). That commercial became an instant hit!
And Mc Donalds did it again! With their release of this “Huling El Bimbo” commercial, they have proven all over again that one should not change channels whenever advertisements like this goes on air.
To those who haven’t watched it (for my friends who are living abroad), the story was about a young boy and girl who started their friendship in a Mc Donalds restaurant (imagine hearing the sounds of Huling El Bimbo playing). The boy discovered that they have so many things in common (like dipping french fries in a sundae) and latter on, developing feeling for the girl.
The next scene shows, both of them all grown up now, the girl holding the boy’s hand running towards the playpen. Then the sudden twist! They were running towards the playpen only to introduce the man that she married. Ooouch! The commercial ended with the man thinking: “Di man tayo nagkatuluyan, ikaw pa rin ang first love ko!”
This will surely go down to the list of the most memorable commercials ever made!

How Do We Measure One’s Success?
I attended a parenting seminar this morning (January 17). Yes, it was a parenting seminar. I attended it on behalf of my older sister who needs to go to work. It was a program in my niece’s school that during card distribution, the parents needs to attend this seminar before the release of the report cards. And since my sister had an emergency work, I volunteered myself to get it. (I am the official nanny of my niece since January 15, my last day at work.)
The topic of the seminar was “How do we measure one’s success?” Wow! It was really thoughtful of them to have a seminar “made” for me. Harhar!
I thought that that will be a boring one. I was dead wrong! I came home thinking about what the speaker said. Do we measure a person’s success by the home he lives in? Or by the car he drives? Maybe we should measure it by the amount of money one has on the bank? Or the places he goes to?
The answer is NO. There are people who possess these things and yet they are not able to sleep at night. There are those whose riches are unimaginable but they feel empty inside. There are those who seem to be very happy and yet, when they are alone, tears are falling from their eyes.
So, how do we measure one’s success? The answer lies deep within us. Even though we do not have so much of the material things, for as long as we enjoy the things that we do…for as long as we are thankful for all the blessings that we have…for as long as we wake up with a smile in our faces…then you we successful. It’s all in the CHARACTER that we build overtime.
Am I successful? Not yet. But I am determined to be one, in time.

Goodbye and Thanks a Lot!
I have been in this position for quite a number of times. But still, I am not used to the feelings associated with it.
I have wanted this "freedom" so badly but now that it is almost over, I can feel the loneliness.
It’s always hard to leave good friends behind. Even though we might be seeing each other, it’s different when you know you will be seeing them everyday. But I must admit, I still have contact with those who I consider to be great friends.
To my IBMer friends, thanks for everything. I will definitely miss all of you.
Again, thanks so much!!!

Pakitong kitong
Just this morning, Allen (my niece), ask me how many “Pakitong-kitong” flowers we have. “Pakitong-kitong” flowers, never heard! The only pakitong-kitong I know was the song “Tong tong tong tong pakitong-kitong…”. So I went to see what flowers she was referring to. It was the anthuriums. She was really excited since she saw a new bud sprouting. Then I asked her: “Who told you that this is a pakitong-kitong?” She answered: “Lolo” (referring to her grandfather). Now I know where I got the genes. Remember the fish fillet? I really am my father’s daughter!
How to Find Your One True Love (Part 1)
I read this book of Bo Sanchez. He recommends 8 steps so that a single woman can find her one true love. Here’s the first 2.
1) Take Responsibility for Finding Your One True Love
He wrote “Be deliberate about getting married. Don’t give God the responsibility He gave you.”. He said that growing one’s character, getting emotionally healthy and knowing thyself will help us (aminado!) find the ‘one’.
2) Know What’s Stopping You Inside
“Identify your internal blocks and self imposed prison of fear”. He said that one needs to ask herself/himself : Married or single life. Me? Married life! Hahahah
(I’ll post the next 2 steps some other time. Let’s master this one first! Hehehehe)

Buntis dance
This is one Christmas that I will never forget. We had a good time laughing, joking and of course, dancing!
It was Ned’s idea for us to dress like pregnant women. (Yes, this is our most memorable costume party.) I know that my friends will kill me once they know that I put this on the web for every one to criticize (harhar!). But who am I to deny our other berks a good laugh?
Hey, do I hear the radio playing? Let’s dance!

How Rich is Manny Pacquiao?
This is the question everybody has and yesterday, January 6, The Correspondents answered this question.
Manny said that when he was young, there were even times when they did not have anything to eat. And because of this, he decided to try boxing. He would win P100 per fight. And P100 at that time was big enough so that their family can afford a decent meal.
And now, we all know that he is worth millions of dollars! So to answer the question how rich Manny Pacquiao is, Mr. Quinito Henson said that Manny already won P1.5 billion pesos! This does not include Manny’s earnings from all the advertisements and businesses!
Correspondents listed that he won a total of $33.4 million from 2000 to 2008.
So let’s do the math. Let’s say that $1 is equivalent to only P45.
$33.4 million * P45 = P1.5 billion
P1.5 billion / 9 years = P166.67 million per year
P166.67 million / 365 days in a year = P 456,600 a day
P456,600 / 24 hours in a day = P19,000 per hour
Hey, the last one is already a decent monthly income of an employee and yet it is only Manny’s HOURLY rate (including the hours he is asleep)!
And Manny totally deserve this. We all know how much heart he puts in his every fight.
Everybody is envious I know. But let us learn from his ways. We need to be dedicated to whatever our calling is and persevere through it all. Who knows, you might be the next millionaire. Me, I am only a hundrennaire (if there is such a word hehehe) and working to be a thousannaire!
