McDonalds’ Commercial: Huling El Bimbo

Have you seen the new commercial of Mc Donalds? The “Huling El Bimbo” one? That was really nice!

Commercial like this is a sure winner. I still remember when they aired “Karen”. The story of a girl (Karen) who brought her “Lolo” (grandfather) to one of the store of this famous food chain and the Lolo kept mentioning the names of his other grandchildren. Hurt by the thought that her Lolo had already forgotten her, she was surprised when her Lolo kept a portion of his burger and said “Para sa paborito kong apo, si Karen.” (To my favorite grandchild, Karen). That commercial became an instant hit!

And Mc Donalds did it again! With their release of this “Huling El Bimbo” commercial, they have proven all over again that one should not change channels whenever advertisements like this goes on air.

To those who haven’t watched it (for my friends who are living abroad), the story was about a young boy and girl who started their friendship in a Mc Donalds restaurant (imagine hearing the sounds of Huling El Bimbo playing). The boy discovered that they have so many things in common (like dipping french fries in a sundae) and latter on, developing feeling for the girl.

The next scene shows, both of them all grown up now, the girl holding the boy’s hand running towards the playpen. Then the sudden twist! They were running towards the playpen only to introduce the man that she married. Ooouch! The commercial ended with the man thinking: “Di man tayo nagkatuluyan, ikaw pa rin ang first love ko!”

This will surely go down to the list of the most memorable commercials ever made!
